With over 30 years of experience and most of that in the Snowies and New Zealand, Murray’s streamcraft and local knowledge provides a unique insight into all aspects of the sport. This experience comes on top of his superb casting and guiding abilites.
When he’s not on the river, you’ll find him behind the counter at High Country Outfitters offering his knowledge and experience, whether it be for gear or where they’re biting.
Murray grew up in Canberra and fished around the area as a youngster before moving to the Monaro and Snowy Mountains. He started up High Country Outfitters with his wife Kate and fished the area every week. Realizing there was a need for a good flyfishing store he started to sell some gear out of the shop and it is growing in size each year. His love of fly fishing takes him to New Zealand each year to guide and teach and is now a Federation of Fly Fishers Certified Casting Instructor. He is involved in the stocking of trout in the district and wants everyone to enjoy this wonderful sport.
Dan’s passion to fish can be attributed to two people – his dad and an old-school flyfisher who lived in one of the old HEC huts opposite Brady Lake in Tasmania. Many family holidays to Jindabyne dating back to the 70′s (photo on the right is at the council caravan park) became the foundation for a life of fishing, evolving to fly fishing in Tasmania, Pelagic’s off Montague, jumping the ‘ditch’ to take on the wilds of the West Coast of NZ and more recently chasing ‘salties’ up in Cape York.
That passion was taken a step further 18 months ago when Dan and his family moved to Jindabyne permanently to pursue a slower lifestyle and with a bit of luck, hook his 9 and 7 year old boys in to a life of “taking a walk up a river with something to do”.
CHRIS aka “TUBBS”
Chris began fishing at the age of 8 when his Grandfather showed him the joys of wetting a line. This hobby quickly grew into an obsession and as time passed he moved from bait fishing to lures and finally to fly fishing 16 years ago.
Evolve Your Fishing is a fantastic opportunity for Chris to combine both his professional and personal passions and become part of the team that has developed this website to provide a wealth of information and hopefully inspire the next generation of young anglers.
